Fozzy WAMA 12/11/11

Tonight, The Wycombe Academy hosted what was one of their most highly anticipated live shows to date.

The room was filled with rockers and metalheads, but there was no escaping the WWE superfans as the headline act, Fozzy is fronted by one of the world’s biggest wrestlers, Chris Jericho.

But before Fozzy made their entrance the fans were able to feast their ears on some awesome support acts.

A short and sweet set from Kerrang! favourites Verses warmed up the crowd nicely. Their heavy rock & roll style and their fantastic new E.P. ‘No World For Us’ has meant that the band have received rave reviews from a lot of the music press, and it’s easy to see why, they really are a talented bunch.

Next on before Fozzy were High Wycombe regulars, Jett Black. The band have had huge success on the British festival scene in the last year, and their 80′s style loud and furious metal went down a treat with the crowd, if you get a chance to see them you really should!

Not long after the band departs the now packed audience breaks into chants of ‘Fozzy Fozzy’ and ‘Y2J’, (a wrestling chant for the band’s frontman). As the band runs out on stage the room literally goes mental, frontman Chris Jericho comes out a few minutes after giving the band the chance to lap up the crowd.

Fozzy have always said that they demand a lot from their audience, and whether it was teaching us to chant ’1,2,3′ or ‘Hey, Hey, Hey’ depending on what fist we’re pumping, or just jumping around running into each other the show was electric. There was so much energy coming from both band and fan and as the screams of ‘Fozzy Fozzy’ grew louder, Jericho and band just stood there and ate it up.

The band now have an on-going list of metal anthems to their name such as the 2010 Royal Rumble theme, ‘Martyr No More’, and the monster track that is ‘Enemy’ was a perfect way to end the night.
The band is now nearing completion of their new album which should be out next summer in time for the festivals, which will unquestionably mark Fozzy as one of the big-league metal bands.
